Snuggle Bug

Bruce is such a little snuggle bug! He is rarely fussy anyway, but if he ever is all you need to do is snuggle with him and life is good :)

My hero!

Brett's new thing is to run around pretending to be a superhero, primarily Captain America! The funniest part of all this is that he recently starting asking me, "Mom, will you be my girl?" Every superhero needs to have a girl! When he is superman he asks me if I will be his princess! Then he'll check back in with me throughout the day and ask, "Mom, are you still my girl?" Yes, Brett I will always be your girl ;)

Girl Trip!

Larry let me sneak away for the weekend with Katie and her friend Jackie and meet my dear friend Misty up in Utah for the weekend of the BYU Women's conference! We had such a great time. The classes were great and the weather was beautiful. Thursday was actually really warm. Then we woke up to snow in Park City Friday morning!

We also made our way to temple square and had a great view of the temple from The Roof Restaurant. I was so excited to be able to see the tulips! I remember our first spring in Utah tulips just appeared in our yard! We had no idea they had been planted there in years past and would come up again in the spring. It was

The trip was so refreshing and relaxing. Just what I needed! It was also so fun to have some time just with my precious little baby! He was definitely enjoying being surrounded by 4 women who had nothing better to do than pay attention to him! He was a perfect little passenger on the airplane too! And he definitely enjoyed being able to snuggle up with me in bed for 3 nights! He is such a little snuggle bug I love it!

Pat Tillman Run 2012

We participated in the Pat Tillman Run again this year. This time Wayne and Austin joined us for the 4.2! It was much harder for me this year than last year for some reason ;) And Larry would never admit it, but I think it was at least a little bit of a challenge for him since he never ran even once to train for this thing!! But of course he was able to just jump out there and go. I have been working on just getting close to being able to even think about running this since 6 weeks after I had Bruce!!

The pre-race happenings were probably the most entertaining part of the race thanks to Bailey and her inability grasp the concept of cardinal directions. My dear mother tried and tried to teach her, but Bailey just never warmed up to the concept. My favorite story was when my mom took Bailey driving out on Germaan Road and said, "Ok now we are going East." Bailey was ok with that until my mom had her do a u-turn. Once the turn was completed mom explained, "Now we are going West." Mom thought for sure that would clear things up for Bailey, but instead Bailey exclaimed, "But we're on the same road! How can we go two different directions on the same road??!!" At that point my mom realized it was hopeless ;) So when Bailey called lost and needing directions to get to Sun Devil Stadium for the race, my mom turned the phone over to Larry and said, "good luck!" Larry, who is always up for a challenge, thought 'how hard can this be?' This is Larry on the phone during our pre-race photo-op, trying to figure out where Bailey was based on what she was seeing and trying to figure out how to get her to the stadium...

...this is Larry almost an hour later still trying to help Bailey grasp the concept. He was at least successful in navigating her to the stadium! My favorite part of this picture is my mom laughing in the background, thankful that someone finally understands her pain!! ;)

We started out as a big group with my mom, Bailey, and Grace. We intended to stay together, but then Wayne wanted to see how fast he could finish so Larry and I ran ahead with him and Austin stayed with Grandma, Bailey, and Grace. I told Wayne he could take the wheel and Larry and I would go his pace, but we couldn't refrain from being backseat drivers! At one point Wayne decided he wanted to take a walking break, but it was at the beginning of a slight downhill so I suggested that we take advantage of the downhill and keep running. Wayne agreed so we kept going. Then as we approached the bottom of the downhill Wayne wanted to take that walk break and Larry said, "no way you have to power up the up hills and just get through it!" Wayne threw his hands up in the air and asked, "So when do we ever walk then?!" Good question!!

We got a good laugh at the last drink stop because Wayne accidentally spilled his drink on himself and one of the volunteers apparently took that as a signal that Wayne wanted to be splashed with water to cool himself down. Accordingly, the volunteer threw an entire cup of water at Wayne and doused him! It was pretty funny :) Larry, Wayne and I crossed the finish line about 50 minutes after we started running and Mom, Bailey, and Grace brought Austin safely across the finish line for us shortly thereafter. We were so proud of our boys for completing the race!

On our way back to our car we spotted Sparky and the boys were the last ones to be able to take a picture with him!

Before we went home we decided to make a pit stop at IHOP and refuel after that run ;) The boys were quite convinced that they were going to starve to death! They talked me in to letting them order off the adult menu because they were SO hungry and they just ran SO far! I agreed even though I wasn't convinced Austin would be able to eat the 4 Cina-stack pancakes he ordered! I tried to talk him into ordering the 2 stack, but he insisted on four!

...and he finished every last bite!!

Suns Game!

We got a good deal on some tickets to the Suns Game so we got a wild hair and decided to take Wayne and Austin to a game! The boys were SO excited that not only were we going to the game, but since there were only 4 of us we got to take the Challenger!! When we got to the game we realized that Larry and parked directly across from a new Camero. The boys were laughing because they said it looked like a face off between the two cars and it kind of did...

We were on the 10th row behind the hoop so we had a pretty good view of the players. One of the reasons we decided to get enough tickets for the boys to come to the game is that the seats came with an "All you can eat" wrist band. That meant they were able to go the the concession stand as many times as they wanted to get soda, nachos, hot dogs, or popcorn!

Larry was thrilled when the boys scored some free noise makers!! ;) Let me tell you those things can really make some noise!! We had to eventually set some guidelines for using them because they were giving us each a headache! I was really hoping that we could lose them before they made it home, but no such luck! Austin was hanging on to those things like they were made out of gold!

It was a fun little outing. Since we have our own little basketball team here I'm sure this is just the beginning of many sporting events we will attend together in the years to come :)

I love my job!

It's hard sometimes trying to juggle work and kids, but I am so fortunate to be able to do both from home. It is so much easier to work when I still get to experience things like watching Brett be mesmerized by Spider Man or taking the office outside to enjoy the weather and watch the boys play while I'm working!

Seriously SO CUTE!!

It is so hard to just let him sleep and not just kiss on those cheeks ALL DAY!!

Oh Blessed Baby Boy

Bruce received his baby blessing from his father today. It was such a sweet experience. We are so very grateful to have this peaceful little angel in our home. And even more grateful to know that families are forever!

We want a pitcher!

It's been fun watching Wayne blossom as a good little baseball player this season. He's loving being worked in to the pitching rotation this season too :)

I just can't help it!

I have to take pictures of this beautiful boy! I just can't help myself. I am already missing him as a baby and he's still a baby! I am trying to savor every moment and capture as many of them as I can!!

Stop to Smell the Roses!

We love our yard in the spring time when the roses are in full bloom!! There are many reasons why we purchased this home but the roses were definitely on the list! And if all goes according to plan this is only the beginning. Larry orders a few new bushes every year from David Austin and hope to eventually turn our yard into a massive rose garden! Larry literally comes home from work everyday and smells the roses :)

Austin's School Play

Austin did a great job in his school musical celebrating Arizona's 100th birthday! He sang every word and was perfectly poised and attentive the entire performance :)

You know you have too many boys if...

...you find toy snakes on your pillow placed there for the sole purpose of making you scream....

...and you find pictures of dead flies trapped in spider's webs on your camera!
