I can't believe Bruce is already 2 weeks old! I took him to the doctor for his 2 week checkup. He did not like being stripped down to get his weight and he had this scowl on his face for quite some time! But that's about as much of a rise as you will get out of him. The doctor asked me if he is the best baby ever. I said, "Yeah, he actually kind of is." All of my boys have been good babies, but he's exceptionally nice. Maybe that's just compared to all the others who are now a little sassy and ornery ;)
Bruce is now 9lbs 12oz which is the 75th percentile for weight. Since they hope for newborns to be back at their birth weight by 2 weeks and he's exceeded that by 7oz he's doing great! He is also now 22.5 inches long which is the 95th percentile. He already smiles when he's looking at you sometimes and if you put him over your shoulder he will try and hold up his head and look at you. He sleep anywhere from 4-5 hours at a time at night...it's like he came out 3 months old!
We're so grateful to have him. Brett tells me everyday, "I like my new baby." Luke overhead me saying that the doctor said if possible to keep Bruce out of public places through the end of March. He got really sad and teary eyed and asked, "We have to give Bruce back in March?" I quickly reassured him that Bruce is ours forever and Luke's sadness quickly turned to relief and joy. He said, "Good because I love our new baby!" Yes, Luke, we all do :)
I know I joke a lot about how crazy and ornery our boys are (because it's true), but they're all really great kids. Wayne is such a good big brother and very helpful. He and Austin both are very doting over Bruce. Austin came up to me the other day and said, "I washed my hands, can I pet your baby?" I had to try really hard not to laugh at him because he was dead serious. They all love to rub baby Bruce's head and I guess that is one way to put it!

Sarah, he is adorable! Almost makes me want another one...almost! Love the new blog, and still miss you at church (and scouts...it's not the same without you)!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tami. He almost makes me want another one too ;) I'm trying to figure out how to keep him from growing! We miss you guys too, but thankfully we're not too far away ;)
